This is a $5 slot token from the Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas. I wonder who the figures represent? The British sovereign seems to be the head of government in the Bahamas, at least until independence in the 1970's. The noses kind of look "Roman", and the head bands were worn by both ancient Greeks and Romans. The legend of the island of Atlantis seems to have been first documented by Greeks (Plato?) and the gods associated with this place seem to be Greek (Atlas, for whom the Atlantic Ocean was named). Other high denom tokens from Atlantis have images of the Greek god Posedion and a turtle, also found in Greek mythology
The entry in The Chip Guide calls the image "Romans".
Does anyone have any background on this?
I'd be interested in other tokens from the Bahamas if you have extras to sell or trade. I have the Atlantis dollar, and dollars from Crystal Palace and Nassau's Luycan Beach in my collection, but I think that's all.
