An unlisted variety: Gold Strike $1 token gold pl.

I'm showing another Franklin Mint slot token today, this one from 1985, I believe the last year FM made Nevada tokens. This token is on Janice O'Neal's list as O'Neal 2365. You can tell this is the FM version because the lettering on the reverse side is raised, not incluse. Janice called this one Type I. It also has the proper 5 dots under the miner on the obverse.

There's a difference, though. The normal mint run token is NickelSilver. This one has been gold plated! Janice doesn't list one plated, but there are other instances where casinos have had a standard token plated for a promotion. I'm guessing that's what this is.

I have two in my collection, one plated, and one not. I had never looked at them closely though to see exactly what they were and if anyone listed the one that's plated. Not on Janice's list; not on Dan's web site.

David Spragg gave me a bag of unknown tokens at the Convention to see if I could ID them. I have four of these. All have some darkening of the edges, apparently where the plating was not thick enough. The usual retail for the Unc standard mint run is $10-15. I have seen the standard token on ebay from time to time but I don't have extras.

You can have one of the gold plated tokens for your collection for the cost of shipping: $2.50.

See what you think.
