I'm working on updating another project of mine that catalogs all of a certain type of insert variation chip. I'm hoping you can help.
What are insert variations and when do they occur? These chip variations only occur when the chip has asymmetric inserts and two different inlays.
One of the most common examples is this $1 Harrah's chip from Las Vegas. Since the chip has two different inlays (i.e. both side have different graphics in the center), one variety shows the inserts running yellow-blue-pink on the jester side and the other variety shows the inserts running blue-yellow-pink its jester side. (The inserts are always noted clockwise around the chip.)
Below are known chips that may have insert variations out there somewhere yet to be cataloged. I'll just show one side of the chip for simplicity's sake. If you have this same chip, but with the inserts running in the opposite direction, can you either post images of the front/back of the chip or e-mail them to me? You may also want to submit them to the ChipGuide too. Thanks!
