I'm guessing that it has a 1940 postmark, which is how you dated it (sometimes the postmark is the best way to date the card, but there's a better way on Curt-Teich's).

Curt-Teich postcards have date codes on them.

See the 8A on the lower right corner of the card? That's the date code.

A is 1930
B is 1940
C is 1950
D is 1960

The number preceding the letter is the actual year. So 8A is 1938. The card was mailed in 1940, but the photograph was from 1938.

Sometimes the number is in the border on the front of the card; sometimes it's under the stamp-box; sometimes it's in the stamp-box...but I've never seen a Curt-Teich without a date code somewhere.
