The Hyatt Lake Tahoe 2.50 chip varieties

These are plastic molded slug core chips used in the Hyatt Regency North Tahoe club. First issue on the right used a brass core and was made in 1990. The reorder chip on the left made 8 years later used the less expensive bi-metal core with the same design. The reverse of the chips uses the "metal bar code" that was used on all the PMSC Hyatt chips. This one has two long and one short bar, 2.5 bars. To my knowledge, Reliable made no other casino's chips with this kind of marking to represent denomination.

TCR calls these both brass core which is technically incorrect. The brass core chip at 0.7 Oz is heavier, compared to the bimetal chip at 0.5 Oz. Apparently it made no difference in play on the tables.

One other difference: the later bimetal core chip had circumferential grooves around the edge. TCR calls it "reeded edge" which again is correct as that would be like a US coin with grooves perpendicular to the chip surface. The inset photo at the bottom shows the smooth and grooved edges on the chips, top to bottom.

Both chips are Unused.

Take either one for $8 or both for $14, postage included for USA shipping.
