I know where the US term came from.

And I know what a British boot is, but where did they get the term?

And why does this Model A have something called a "rumble seat"?

I found why the term 'boot' is used (automobile) ~
Rumble seat
I have never kept my gloves in a glove compartment
They once had a practical application
