The Bank of Canada has just released their new $20 bill as part of their banknote upgrade program. It is made from polymer plastic and features a number of anti-counterfeiting security devices as well as an overall new design. In keeping with past practices the Bank of Canada has incorporated raised braille markings for the blind.
The controversy? It seems come focus groups have deemed this note to p0rn0graphic, and appears to have the Twin Towers (World Trade Center) depicted on the back. Actually, it does contain three topless women. They are part of the Vimy Memorial in northern France, the largest monument overseas for Canadian soldiers lost the First World War. The allegorical figures are The figures of Hope, Charity, Honor and Faith.
Will this note become the next “Devil’s Hair” note? Who knows, but it has created quite a stir among some Canadians. ENJOY!!
Image used is from the Bank of Canada- Transmission of current Canadian Currency laws are a bit strict, so I chose to use their image instead of mine (hence ‘SPECIMIN”).
