If you scan your chips with the scanner cover open make sure the room is reasonably dark.

Someone once told me to cover the object with a black coffee cup for the same effect. I don't have a black cup so I've never tried it.
The black takes out the bluish tinge in the background.
When I adjust it to pure white the cross hatching blends together. I leave whites a little off-white.

For me scanning collectibles is never ending. I'm constantly re-scanning things because of a new idea.
