I examined this chip, in fact I was the first collector to look at it. The finder is brand new to chip collecting and has no knowledge of chip values. She is a poker pro and author and picked up the chip in a game. While it is entirely possible that a "chip doctor" altered the chip, I do not believe that this is what happened in the case. The $1 inlay is perfect. It is flat on to the chip, perfectly centered, there are no glue smudges or bubbles or anything else that you would find on an altered chip. Absolutely no evidence of tampering. It so good that if you just look at the chip you will not immediately recognize the error, it takes a 2nd glance. I know that a "chip doctor" could produce the same results, but why would they go through all the effort and then put the chip back on the tables?
