As an old printer would tell you....

The magenta plate is so out of register. That's why you have black dots in the red reverse and some white shows around the lettering. Another clue is the gold color -- which is a combination of cyan, and yellow. When misaligned, you get shading as what you are seeing. There are only three elements that make up color -- Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. The black dots are a byproduct of using a misaligned screen with a screen percentage to make a new color darker or lighter. Black as a plate is not often used unless doing high, (Dot Per Inch) dpi printing on slick magazine stock.
