Don't I know it

I had to pay duty and VAT on a chip last week - the chip was $36 and $5 shipping but I then paid around $7 VAT/Duty and $13 admin charge from the post office, so a $36 chip cost me $60!

The next day I had another chip, same value, same seller, and that got through ok, so I think in part it depends on how lucky/unlucky you are with the random customs checks.

But at the end of the day, this one is a present for my wife that I can't get anymore in this country so I'm happy (just for once!) to cover the taxes this time.
