As a regular means of travel I probably agree - I like the idea of trying the service once, but whether it would be practical for regular travel who knows. They certainly need to consider parking at each end and I guess the quality of services on board - alternatives based on quality of seating, meals etc make a difference.
As for alternatives, we usually drive between LV and LA, but I simply never bother with flying - the combination of getting to the airports at each end (and parking costs would be no different to parking at Fullerton), security checks, delays etc etc means that end to end travel is rarely any quicker - sure, the time in the air is less than on the road (or tracks), but the queueing and waiting for air travel is enough to keep me away, except of course for the flight for me to get to the USA in the first place - not a lot of choice there
