Re: Sands H.N.O. $5 values

Determining value for this Sands H.N.O. $5 chip is a little tricky these days.
It depends on if it came from "the dig" or not, as well as overall condition.

If you're not aware of "the dig" ...
It has been a desirable and scarce chip to find, with the added cache of its Howard Hughes connection.
Then quite a few of them, along with the $25 H.N.O's were "dug up" after being long buried in a concrete foundation on the LV Strip.

A lot of "the dig" chips were in rough shape, with concrete bits and discoloration, among other problems. But some had little damage at all.
So supply increased, and it even affected the non-dig chip values to an extent.

My guess is that good "dig" chips go for around $40 or so, and non-dig chips can range from $200 to $300, depending on wear.
If you're selling, expect that any buyer will want a strong guarantee of "authenticity" if you represent that the chip was NOT part of "the dig".
A high-resolution scan / pic of the chip is essential in that case. Delivering the chip IN PERSON would be even better, so the buyer can examine it closely, even under magnification. (Your pictures were a little fuzzy on my computer screen.)

Hope that explains the difficulty in pricing it. vbg
