I bought this stack of old newspapers ( about 30-35 ) at a garage sale for $3. They are all from the late 20's to the mid 40's. they are mostly from San Francisco, but a few from Oakland and New York City. While flipping thruogh them I did see and add for the El Cortez with the Trocadero Club (Reno). I can't seem to find it now. I saw many, many adds on old San Francicso Clubs. (some with very famous acts). There were some news on WWII... The stock market crashing... The U.S. Arizona going through the Panama Canal.... And in one of the N.Y. Papers the had a picture of a large lot being cleared to build a couple of skyscrapers. (I'm thinking it might be The Twin Towers..but I haven't researched it yet) It may be a bit before I get a chance to go through them completely. Most of these newspapers are pretty roasted and very brittle. When I do, I'll post a few pics from time to time. I find this history very fascinating.. I hope others do too.
