REMINDER - I will be moving the WKOCCIC-COTD to the ccgtcc Message Board. This week I will post in both locations.

Welcome to a sneak peek of the more than 100 chips from the article I'm writing for the "Casino Collectable News".
Today is a mixed bag of strange denominations: 12½¢ & 12.50.

The Avalon

Reasons to collect....
Closed casino
Location: Emeryville, CA
Denomination: 12½¢
Mold: diamonds
Notes/Information: This is an unusual denomination for a chip; maybe the ½ payoff portion for blackjack on a 25¢ bet? According to “The Gaming Table” this casino closed in 1972 so I guess that is a possible explanation.

Casino Ruhl

Reasons to collect....
Location: Nice, France
Denomination: 12.50FR
Mode: 4 suits

Notes/Information: This is an unusual denomination for a chip; maybe the ½ payoff portion for blackjack on a 25FR bet? According to “The Gaming Table” this casino opened in 1975.

If you like this chip what else could you collect that is similar?

There are other 12½¢ chips out there and CCGTCC member Matt Elliot from “Down-Under” sent me a scan of this tournament chip so who knows how many other 12.50 chips exist?

Treasury Casino

Location: Australia
Denomination: 12.50

To quote Matt, “It’s from the Treasury Casino in Brisbane Queensland – on that island they call Australia.” Those Aussies have a way with words!
