Jim Follis reponded to my post about the $3 Mohegan Sun chip & the differences with the inserts. I appreciate his reply and promise to cover insert differences in a future post.

I also received an email about the same $3 chip's mold being Hat & Cane:
"The Mohegan Sun $3 chip, while on the surface is a Hat and Cane molded chip, it more specifically a Reversed Hat and Cane mold (RHC) in that one of the hat and canes is reversed compared to all the others.
Technically, there are at least 4 Hat and Cane molds, maybe even 5!
SCV - Short Cane Version
LCV - Long Cane Version
CJ HC - Christy Jones Hat and Cane (shiney hats)
RHC - Reversed Hat and Cane
?? - Inverted Hat and Canes, as used on over-sized chips and all of the hats are larger and the brims are closest to the rolling edge."
I will also explore molds in future posts.
If you want more mold information right now you can check out 2 great resources: The Chipology 101 presentation on the website at http://www.ccgtcc.com/chipology_101.html & Robert Eisenstadt's Antique Gambling Chips & Gambling Memorabilia Web Site / EMBOSSED RIM MOLD DESIGN PROJECT of mostly antique molds at http://www.antiquegamblingchips.com/molddesignindex_site.htm are awesome!
