The facts.

* Offered a 2nd chance to a buyer in Canada on a $2.50 chip (no it isn't David Byard!)
* Buyer bought the chip & paid by paypal before I could even invoice. Al good, the shipping was correct & the amount paid was correct.
* I finish packing the chip during the day.Before I take the chip to the PO I see a message from the seller.
* Seller states that he has already purchased the same chip from me a month ago & has bid & then purchsed this one in error as he already has it. Could he have a refund.
* Sure, I have no problems offering a refund to the buyer as it was an honest mistake (after checking he did indeed buy the same chip a month ago)
BUT
After checking my ebay account I have been charged US$2.16 as a final valuation fee on the sale and paypal has charged me US$1.24 for the payment. ($0 listing fee to worry about)

The money here is not the issue but the questions I need answered are...

1. If I refund the sale I am pretty sure that ebay wil not refund the final valuation fee, is this correct?
2. If I refund the sale do paypal refund the fee they charged for the payment?
3. Is it fair to ask the seller for any fees incurred to be deducted from the refund?

If it was me I would never have asked for a refund in the first place, I would have eaten my mistake & resold or traded the chip down the track. Lesson learned & we;ve all bought chips we already had in the past.
If I did ask for a refund I would certainly be happy to pay any out of pocket expenses that the seller would have incurred.

The sellers last message makes him come off as neither fair or reasonable so just wanted a few opinions before I draw a line in the sand simply because he's a douche bag!
