That's why I was singing the hallelujah chorus when I moved to Florida. The dominate cable system here is Bright House Network which was formerly a 50/50 partnership between Time Warner Cable and Advance-Newhouse which for those of us who lived in the NYC Tri-State area is the owner of the Staten Island Advance newspaper on Staten Island and the Star-Ledger newspaper in New Jersey. They also own magazine publisher Conde Nast and the Conde Nast building in Manhattan. Apparently TWC and AN had a falling out and now Bright House is wholly owned by AN but negoiations with the various cable networks is still represented through TWC.
In New Jersey I had cable TV 27 years, 14 of which were with Comcast prior to that my cable company was a small independent called Suburban Cablevision of New Jersey and they were fantastic the customer service was great you call up and they answered right away, they were very community oriented, they had five cable channels that were dedicated to local community programming but when Comcast took over that all just disappeared in the blink of an eye. They consolidated all of their Northern New Jersey cable systems into one headquarters in Union Township and then customer service since as many others have stated just sucks!
