The Chip Board Archive 22

However, 5 p.m. is rush hour on Saturday too!

With Comcast, access to the Chipboard and ccgtcc is basically a waste of time. Most posts take up to a minute to load; most attachments never complete the display during busy times.

I've experimented more with parameters available to a Comcast user. Changing to the public Google DNS server changed nothing. However, I tried access using the full IP address of the board, 87.106.52.106, which should never even access a DNS server and the situation is the same. I don't know what else to try. It would appear the most disabling aspect is the the hang on loading a scan stored on TheChipBoard picture server. Maybe you could review that to see if it maybe uses a DNS on its own, David?

The only tool I've been able to find to check times is tracert (trace route). It shows maybe a second to access the Chipboard.com server, and I can't time the displaying of a post with it.

Our problem is definitely related to the way Comcast gets to the 1&1 server; it's not the same as the way Clear gets there. I can provide tracert printouts if it helps anyone, but they don't really point out the delays we are seeing. I do see 2-3 timeouts (lost packet) each time I do this, but that shouldn't cause the display to hang up forever.

I have solved my immediate problem since I am a Clear user in addition to Comcast. That won't help most Comcast users though. The basic problem is that there is no one you can go to with an "Internet" problem, since nobody owns the Internet grin . We can hope the problem will magically fix itself, I guess.

It's not just the Chipboard.
