Buy the standalone scanner and printer, the jack of all trade - seems to be more pain than gain - those combo 3 in 1 & 5 in 1 are to be avoid, sure they look like cheaper but in the long run they tend to have more problems.

My black and white HP Laserjet 1020 works for me, its very old. I don't know if they are still making and selling this model.

Epson seems to be the choice of the chippers in scanners.
