It has been my understanding that the Charlevoix Club was in Charlevoix, Michigan. Charlevoix is more than 300 miles from Toledo (as the crow flies), so it would have been considerably more than a couple hours to travel there in the 1920s. The most likely form of travel would have been steamship or rail.
Growing up on the French east side of Detroit, we had a Charlevoix street that ran through Detroit and the Grosse Pointes (my son's home is on the corner of this road), but with a few rare exceptions it has always been a residential street without any businesses.
