Along with Benny Binion and Jackie Gaughan, Exber was one of the innovators who drifted into Southern Nevada a half-century ago, shook up downtown Las Vegas with brash gambling ideas, and became a legend in the process.
"He was one of the first, best oddsmakers, the one who really brought around sports betting in Las Vegas," said Alan Abrams, Exber's friend of 40 years and the director of operations at Exber Inc., which runs the El Cortez, the Las Vegas Club and the Western.
