Halogen lamps produce light at a different color temperature than daylight.
Halogen is about 3400 degrees while daylight is 5500 degrees.
Cameras expect to take pictures in daylight and are white balanced for 5500 degrees, although on some cameras you can set the balance for other color temperatures or light sources.
Taking a picture using the halogen lighting with a camera balanced for daylight will make the picture more blue than it is.
It would be better to use incandescent lighting and best to use a daylight balanced CFL (compact florescent light) which produces light at daylight temperature and does not get hot.
Halogen lamps get very hot and are dangerous if touched or come into contact with something.
