My tripod would always tip over, but that was with a little larger point and shoot - I have 2 smaller cameras now. You still have to find a way to set up the chip. Also I would always move the camera and I would have inconsistent sizes.

As for backgrounds you can put different colors of note cards. I even thought about green felt. Or you can post process as Steve did for me.
