We (we sailed w/ Cunard previously) get a call from a wholesaler saying that the ship is returning from its World Cruise and if we would like to take advantige in booking a cabin when it arrives in Port Everglades after sailng from NY (there were many who did the WC and who lived in FL -- extending NY to FL) for a 7-nite; 6-port Caribbian sailing. When I asked how much, the woman responded with: "We have 12 unsold cabins w/ still a $500 per person cabin open." I asked if I could call right back in order to check w/ Cunard... and I was told "sure, but I can't guarantee you the cabin as I'm calling several others in Florida who sailed w/ Cunard in the past." I called Cunard and they confirmed everything (that the cabin quoted was available, but for way more than the offer made us), but that I can only go through the wholesaler for that rate. I called the wholesaler and booked the inside cabin at the $500 per person rate. Upon boarding and being taken to the cabin, Barbara hears a "banging-pipe" sound on the wall next to our bed and we were offered an outside cabin as a gratis upgrade by the purser. We've been on a lot of ships w/ some pretty good deals, but this gig beat them all... The two woman next to our cabin paid $15,000 for theirs...
