Re: Still a good market for scarce chips!

Yes, I am sure that i lose a little money once in a while when i sell some chips from our store due to the "List" blocking. Just as i am sure that say a nice lounge may lose some money by not letting drunks with pockets full of money to buy drinks in their bar. We both made the choice not to not do business with a particular segment of the market. We weighed the possible loss of income against whether or not we would sleep peacefully at night.
95% of the people on that list have never met me or my wife or any of our 7 full time employees. 95% of those people have ever bothered to listen to our opinions about chips. A decision was made to honor their request by blocking their bids from our sites. Much the same way a casino will honor your self exclusion to their establishment by putting you on its no admittance list. (Several over the years changed their email address so as to be able to bid on our chips). Last year our Brick and mortar store and online sales totaled $34,386,000.00. A small portion of that was chips (around $400,000). We had 9 chips sell for 5 figures. So we do a little business in chips and enjoy offering them to the community.
I think that if i found out a known sex offender owned my grocery store that i would go way out of my way not to do business with them. However if a guy i buy coins from only sells them to me raw and certified and then i certify them (or keep them raw) and resell them, i think we can both live in a peaceful manner. Commerce will continue, (something we all should really not be adding to the slowdown of) he will run his business his way and i will run mine my way and no one is hurt.
I am not the one who chose this path we are on together. When i was looking into the viability of chips being certified the rumblings started among a small group of members of the club. The same thing happened when the coin industry overwhelmingly embraced Certifying coins. There are many many reasons for both sides to argue their respective sides. I wont get into details or even try to state my opinions here on this board. Over the years i have tried to but have only been met with the same group of five or so who only know how to bash and be disrespectful. No names are needed as most on here know exactly the people i speak of.
I am 53 years old now and after working for 37 years for myself to build my business to its current level i find i am to tired to care anymore. Bid or buy if you choose to. If you choose to not do business with us then we will miss your business and you will miss some great chips. 20 years from now it will matter not in the grand scheme of things.
