Years ago, at the Excalibur (Las Vegas) their poker room was at the end of a cocktail route that hit several roulette tables first. I had a deal with several cocktail girls to buy their roulette tokes, every time they came around. However, being a visitor, I only did this a few times.
But contrary to what AJ was stating, in Nevada, roulettes are used as tokes and have the value of the denomination the player is playing (usually $1). At the Excalibur (as well as other places I have been to) when the cocktail girl gets to the roulette table on the next rotation, she will 'color up' the wheel checks she has for live action chips. This is sometimes done directly with the roulette dealer, but sometimes with the pit boss. But the point is, the roulette chips do have a value as a tip, but it would not surprise me to see it being different elsewhere.
