A true story about the Queen of Spades chip in that 20 chip series: The day the Queen of Spades chip was released at Trump Castle (4/25/96) was the same day of the funeral for former CC & GTCC officer James Harpp. Brenda, Chuck Tomarchio and I attended Jim's funeral in upstate New York. When we returned back to Jersey, there was a post on thechipboard by one of those who was at the release and who purchased a larger than normal supply announced to the effect that "the queen has been captured and is being held for ransom". I believe the price was set around $65 to $75 each! Up until that day, I was selling individual Royal Flush chips as they were issued to my new issue subscribers for $8 each, but I was unable to get any Q/S for my customers. You can buy this chip today for a couple of $ over face ... as many complete sets have been turned back into the cage.

Anyhow, back to the defacing. One AC club member was so incensed over this, that he took an exacto knife to every Royal Flush chip that he turned in. In fact, at one A.C. chip club meeting a few years back, a Queen of Spades was in the club auction ... which he prompty bid on and won. Guess what ..., he announced that he was cutting the chip immediately after paying for it... and he did in front of all the meeting attendees.
