Not to the loser but it's what I did in a holdem tourney at Turning Stone yesterday. I was getting down in chips (after being the table leader earlier) when in the small blind in seat 8 the following occurred. I thought all before me had folded before the flop and believed that I might just as well buy in cheaply with a 9 & 7 offsuit so I called. What I didn't see or hear was Seat # 1 go all in and because my hearing aid was off being repaired didn't hear the dealer say very quietly all in. When the smoke cleared Seat 1 tossed down the big slick (A/K) and I had to show my 9/7...the flopped missed; the turn missed and a 9 dropped on the river. Needless to say Seat # 1 who was a very good player was not a happy camper. Do I know how to playholdem? (finished just short of the money so my stupidity didn't really help all that much.
