Sellers get very little protection on eBay. I take precautions when I sell chips or coins, though - I don't want the package to look like it contains cash equivalents, so I break up the shape by sandwiching it in cardboard. This also serves to thicken the package so it reaches the 3/4 inch required thickness for first class packages.
