Very sadly not an uncommon story. With gold prices being so high more and more mailers that look like they might hold a coin are being pilfered. Will the USPS admit this, probably not. My opinion yes but I was told by a jeweler that the same problem exists with sending small packages with UPS & FedEx also as expensive watches are also a target.
