Epson scanners give you the most bang for the buck so it's the most popular for scanning casino chips.

BUT whatever brand scanner you buy check the Specifications page to see the type of Photoelectric Sensor Device. Make sure it is CCD and NOT CIS.
CCD will give you close to true colors and CIS will not.

The below are screen captures of the Specifications page of two Epson scanners. One is the Epson Perfection V30 and the other is the Epson Workforce 840 All-in-One. These two scanners will give you totally different scan results.
The red arrows indicate the Photoelectric Sensor Device used.
