Several towns in my area; Royal Palm Beach, Wellington, Loxahatchee, Lake Park and many others.
President Bush came down to help pass out bags of ice... and he also made it a point to turn the South Florida Fairgrounds into a staging area with hundreds of trucks with food being distributed along with soup kitchens set up at major shopping centers' parking lots. Trucks would come and go 24-hours a day. The following year (no hurricane) there was at least 2,000 trucks fully stockd with everything a family of 5 would need for a month; everything you can think of to carry folks over. I don't know if it was because his brother was the govenor of Florida at the time or not -- but I'm happy he was. That JEB is a good man...! A very good man.
There were many area grids totally out for severl weeks more...
