Hey Don,
This is a full year in the past so I'm not sure it is worth either of our time/energy but in an effort to clarify...
[it seemed that member who arrived the day before the convention started could only get one of these cards by buying it at the Club table.]
Again, the cards were NOT made or intended for members. At the same time we were not trying to keep them from members. The South Point was directed to give them to any club member who requested them. But the intention of the card was to alert South Point non-member guests of our event. They were first given out on Wednesday which was the day BEFORE our convention floor opened.
[Also, hotel visitors who arrived the day before the convention would not have the reminder in their hand each time they opened their door since they were too late to get them at check-in.]
Again they were given to those checking in Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday so I'm not sure what you mean by "too late"?? Seems to me that this was the perfect window of check-in to accomplish the goal we had in mind for the cards. South Point told us how many keys on average would be given out those four days and that was the number that was made. Turns out they over-estimated since we had cards left over. But this finite amount is why they were not given out prior to Wednesday.
Now if you are referring to "the day before" as Tuesday then I guess you might have a point, but we weren't trying to get non-members to our banquet Wednesday night but to our convention floor which opened Thursday morning.
I don't know how well the campaign worked but since the room keys were not made this year I assume the board felt that the room key advertising to non-members last year was not worth the money spent.
Hope this helps,
Dave
