I'm with you, Mike. There has been progress in reducing drinking & driving, but it hasn't reached far enough. Many courts still treat it as a victimless offense, at least until a fatal crash occurs. But you're right - those accidents can be prevented up front.
I made it clear to my kids when they reached driving age - they shouldn't ride with anyone who has been drinking, and if they have been drinking call me and I will pick you up and not yell at you about drinking. I know that kids drink, but the consequences of driving with even small amounts of alcohol in your system are too severe.
