The Canadian chip website since its inception under "Big Mike" has not change much in the last couple of years.
This is being posted as a wake up call to find out any oral histories and dig into the past of these so called the "roaming casinos". If you look at the Global chip guide click in Europe for instance their chips entries are more informative and replete with good info - dates, photos and what else. Their entries in terms of historical value are to be emulated elsewhere if we want to.
Find out first of all from Toronto University, Department of Economics or Department of Business if there are already available studies in the form of students term papers, Master thesis in the studies of these roaming businesses which is invaluable historical event that took place in the lives of business men and most probably employed people. The doctoroal thesis of graduate students are possibly in the archives of the college and universities in Toronto or Ontario.
Looking for a contact and possibly a collaborator(s) to look into the possibility conducting a formal research in the Toronto area of the roaming casinos. The time period is not that much assuming as most students/chip collectors are saying that the roaming casinos were popular in the early 1990 to 1996, even if we extend the period of study to 1990-2000, still it is manageable.
If there is a taker email me and I will start preparing the outline of the study proper, identify the sources of materials basically the government business license office, the chamber of commerce, the associations, the charity organizations among others. The newspaper and magazine accounts of, then possibly included the "oral histories" of the people in the business or in the area in contact with them.
Then we will find out a financial support from the University of Toronto or the Ford Foundation which funds research work even in third world countries, even the UNLV Deparment of Gaming will most like be interested to get involved if they want to lead the research I will work without pay for it.
Yeah! How about the casino associations in Canada or anywhere else. Or maybe get the help of the big casino equipment industry - like IGT. I could care less if they all want to have the exclusive ownership of the study and all the copyright to the finish product at least we have the info available by then.
If you are interested lets work. I will draft the study proposal and the formal study approach including looking for financing. Will send you all the copies to consider for comments and inclusion in the formal finish proposal.
Yes, I am going crazy. Yes am I rattling. Maybe you say it is doable. Your "maybe" has the possibility.
Let me work for you for free - will go there with my personal money and personal expenses no charge to you. All I need really is info, photos and possibly logos to fill in the blank in my snappers entries.
Input your critique(s) or otherwise.
Thank you much for your patience!
