When the carry on is going thru the xray machine TELL to operator that you have poker chips in the bag. I never bother with the private screening since there is more security there than in a casino - no one is going to try to steal them. They may still want to go thru the bag but sometimes they let them go thru. I would never pack anything valuable in your checked luggage since there is a real good chance you will never see it again. Keep in moind that some airlines have a 40 pound carry on weight limit.
