I don't believe Merv Griffin was an original owner. It may be that her husband retired while Resorts was owned by Merv and thus received the sign. When I retired from Hilton A.C. I received a couple of lobby signs that had pictures of chips on them (after a couple of subtle hints to the V.P. of Casino Operations).
