The internet buyer's best friend is the credit card. Buy everything online with a credit card. (I don't know if you did here.) Even with a large balance in your PayPal account, you can buy things through PayPal with a credit card (I do). PayPal can NOT take away your rights with the credit card company. Even if 45 days have passed with PayPal/eBay, you can still do a credit card chargeback, as Jim McNally implied above in the thread. (FL). It is always comforting to buy with a credit card or credit card-funded PayPal payment because if worse comes to worse, there is the chargeback.
Also, even if it is too late to start a formal complaint with PayPal-eBay, you can inform them anyway so it goes against the seller's record.
