I came across an article in a South Korean newspaper. It mentions compulsive gamblers but in my opinion they are past that stage; they are degenerate gamblers.

Kangwon Land Casino is the only casino in South Korea open to anyone. All other casinos are foreigners only. When I went there every seat at all 50 blackjack tables was occupied. Almost every slot machine was being played.
In this town are numerous pawn shops and used luxury cars for sale, just like the article describes.
It took me four hours by bus to get there. 100 minutes by "bullet taxi"? Incredible! I would advise bringing a change of underwear.
