Las Vegas Cab drivers are known for that.
When you step in the cab they will ask you where you are from. Tell them YOU ARE A LOCAL and DON"T TAKE THE TUNNEL.
Typically they'll say "traffic is terrible this time of day"..you must not relent, tell them you don't care.
If you are going mid-Strip, the cost should be around $15..NOT $30..
