promotion

I have been involved in promoting events in the past. While PR firms can be very helpful, there is a lot that volunteers can do if they are willing to expend some effort: posting signs & handing out literature at coin shows, other chip events, and in area businesses; issuing press releases (small newspapers will print just about anything they get); making collectors, sponsors and dealers available for TV and radio interviews. Once one media outlet gets the story, others follow.

Don't forget that the casino wants to increase its traffic, so ask what their own PR staff can do to help promote the, to coordinate efforts, and to take full advantage of their existing contacts. This would include literature in the rooms or handouts as guests check in to the hotel.
