NCR - Solar Eclipse

Nothing to do with chips but there will be a solar eclipse next Sunday, May 20. The path will go northwest from New Mexico through Northern California with the center of the path just north of St. George, Utah. It will be an annular eclipse. This means that the moon will not completely cover the sun and there will be a thin ring of sun surrounding the moon at "totality." A little sun is still a lot of sun and so it will be much less dramatic than a total solar eclipse where the sky turns dark in mid-day. It also means that the entire event MUST be viewed through a protective lens specially designed for solar viewing. I plan to drive to the Water Bldg. in St. George where there will be a lecture and viewing from the roof. The event will start around 6 PM.
