I own a We Buy Gold store here in Mississippi. I bought these off a guy that says he buys storage units,
(like the t.v. show Storage Wars). He got them from a unit.... He brought these in and one regular Caesar's silver chip. I initially offered him a low amount to buy them.... I was buying the one as silver and just thought the two gold ones were neat, but not gold. Needless to say he got angry and snatched up the chips and said, " You're trying to rip me off man... those two are 10 karat gold. " After I calmed him down and said that I had NO idea that they were gold and I was offering to buy the one as silver and the other two as just neat Baccarat chips, I had never seen any chip that was solid gold and not gold plated, he let me look at them again. I was suspect of them because one weighed 35.5 grams and the other weighed 33.8 grams. I am not a collector, but have watched on the Discovery or History channel a show about Las Vegas and learned from that that chips are regulated, uniform in size and weight... So I sawed into one and tested it. It tested gold. So I bought one and told him I would check with my smelter to make sure and if it was I would buy the other one. My smelter retested it and said it is definitely gold. I then did some research and found out what I had, so I bought the other one. Long story short, I wish I wouldn't have sawed into the one, but it isn't all that bad and the other one is completely intact. There is a link on this forum to someone that was asking about another one a couple of years ago. If anyone has any insight into what they may be worth or if I should just scrap them that would be greatly appreciated.... Thanks
