It's one of the neater looking Newport tokens, though not particularly scarce. The bar at 7th and Roberts in Newport is long gone. Larry Trapp said he and his mom used to play the horses out of that place. he told me he had a short wave radio that was getting live broadcast of races in other cities or over seas, not sure which. They were able to bet the winner before the results got to the bar. They only did it a few times. They said they feared for their health if they ever got caught. You could get a bet down in almost any bar back in the day.
