I was in Topeka for three days (for work). Wednesday night I went to Prairie Band Casino which is north of Topeka. Played a little bit of $5/$10 HO until the game broke up around 10pm. I also played $2/$5 NL until about 1am. Won $470.
Yesterday after work, I was coming home from Topeka and on my way home I drive by the new Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway. I decided to stop by and I ended up jumping into a $1/$3 NL game (Max $300 buy-in).
I was kicking butt in the game. Actually me and another person directly to my right. Eventually I had $900 in front of me and he had $1000. We chit-chatted all night talking baseball, football joking around.
That guy was on the button and I was small blind. We had an under-the-gun straddle for $6. A few of limpers for $6 and the guy next to me on the button raises to $30. I had pocket 7’s so I flat call the $30. We actually get a few more callers and see flop. Flop is A73 with two hearts. Awesome flop for me but don’t like the hearts out there with four other people in the hand. So I go ahead and bet out $150. Everyone folds except the original raiser and he re-raises me and makes it $300.
I felt right away something was not right. He got real serious and quit talking altogether. So right away pocket aces came into my mind (maybe he had AK too). I “whined” about it (in famous Bedo fashion) saying that I couldn’t believe I was laying it down. I folded face up and couple other guys at the table said they couldn’t believe I folded that. Then guy on button shows his pocket aces.
One of the guys at the end of the table walked over to shake my hand and he said best lay down he’d ever seen. Everyone on the table said they’d gone broke. So that was awesome feeling. We all probably talked about it for 20 minutes or so. I later left the game up $450.
