believe that this is a lousy rule?

The Trade sessions are a function of the convention. That means in order to attend a trade session in a room provided by the convention, you must be registered for the convention.

Since registration opens to all non pre-registers on Thursday then the only way to attend a trade session on Wednesday is to Pre-register.

No need to pre-register for trade sessions Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Surely thats a better option than doing away with the trade session on Wednesday all together, wouldn't you agree?

I for one am glad not anyone off the street can walk into our trade sessions and feel much more secure that way.
