The fact that the red ones are found pretty worn, and the salmon ones usually unused tells me they are part of a reorder that likely weren't put in play. I don't know how reliable TR King records have been found to be in general, but I can envision a reorder from a small club for a small denomination chip not getting too much attention.
I think all known chip varieties should be listed in TCR. If you want to annotate one with the specuation that it has been known to turn into another variety, that's fine, but there sould be some documentation in your files describing how this metamorphosis occurs.
Has anyone done an article on TR King's use of a power coating to change the color of some of their chip production? This is the first I've heard of it (except for Saito's speculation that TRK dusted their new chips with a white powder for some unknown reason).
