That is a good question.
I have a couple of Stork Club $5s that are half red, half pink 
I have seen other odd examples.
Seems to me that the China Club chips are only found brand new or well worn. Have you seen anything inbetween?
If you can convince Mr Sarles that he is wrong maybe he will reconsider
