The furniture in the rooms have been updated. The bed, desk, TV, lamps (off topic -- one of the best beds i have slept in, very comfortable). The bathrooms remain unchanged and old. The walls are unchanged (maybe painted). The problem is the windows --- they are paper thin, at 1am the Fremont Street is still going strong. At 6:15am the trash truck comes by to empty all the beer bottles consumed the night before. I had a talk with the manager about this and they have been soliciting bids for soundproofed windows. The new "tower" (in quotes because it will be 5 or 6 floors compared to the GN next door). is on the far side so it will have less noise.
Funny story... I pulled into the Valet at Golden Gate. I get out of the car and start taking the luggage out and the valet comes over and says "sir, this is the Golden Gate the Golden Nugget valet entrance is over there...". I said, "oh crap... is it that bad to stay here..."
This is the 33rd or 34th casino/hotel I have stayed at in Vegas. I have the list somewhere.
